3rd Security Middle East Show (SMES)

The third edition of Security Middle East Show (SMES) was held with great success on September 08 - 10, 2015. The opening ceremony was attended by Lebanese Minister of Interior Nuhad Machnouk, who represented SMES patron former Prime Minister Saad Hariri, and by former President General Michel Sleiman who gave the keynote address. The speech of Lebanese Armed Forces Commander General Jean Kahwaji was delivered by his representative Brig. Gen. Ibrahim Harfoush.

A huge audience of senior security and military and government officials as well as diplomats and industry executives attended the ceremony, and afterwards toured the exhibition and met with the participants. Some 100 local, regional and international defense companies were represented at SMES-2015. Few countries had their own pavilions, like France, Brazil and Poland. Thousands of people from delegations to military and security officers as well as businessmen and civilians attended the three-day show at Biel. The Lebanese Air Assault Regiment held a live demonstration on the second day of SMES, where the special forces troops displayed a number of their skills. Several Lebanese universities took part in the Science Fair for Innovation and Creativity at SMES where students from these universities presented some of their inventions that could be put to use in the fields of security and safety. The fourth edition of SMES will take part in the spring of 2017, on a date that will be announced shortly.
