The First Edition of the Gulf International Cyber Security Symposium (GICS) was held at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) on December 9 and 10.

GICS had the prestigious patronage of the UAE Ministry of Defence and Official government support from the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA), AECERT, Dubai eGovernment and the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce. GICS gathered UAE Government and Military delegations and well as a large participation from the private sector to hear from the wide array of experiences from the highly prestigious panel members that attended and presented.

The First Edition of GICS looked at the broad topic of Cyber Security and discussed various issues from a policy level and later debated operational level challenges across a wide array of sectors including; Government and Defense Sector, Critical Infrastructure, and the Financial Arena. Commercial partners Parsons and Lockheed were highly instrumental to the success of GICS.
